Time flies by in lockdown! I can't believe that its two weeks since I last posted anything. Mind you we have been very busy, believe it or not! Lots of gardening and admin to do as well as the odd jigsaw.
But since the last post we have managed to get out a few times a lovely walk from Aberdour along the coast to Burntisland, another walk at Lochore and at Seafield, plus pastures new at Portmoak Moss. All within a few miles of our house, can't be bad.
The walks has brought our species count for 2021 up to 86. So that's not bad either for staying close to home.
So here's a few photos from those walks:
Starting with Snowdrops at Aberdour,
along with a European Rabbit,Aberdour Beach,
Pink-footed Geese,
Goosander,
and a smart Herring Gull.
This Pied Wagtail wouldn't face the camera,
But a couple of Song Thrush did show well.
At Kinghorn Loch, some Deer were grazing in the distance.
At Lochore a Green Sandpiper showed from the Nature Reserve hide.
On Lochore itself, this female Tufted Duck tried to trick us into thinking it was a Scaup,
while a Buzzard flew over.
A pair of Great-crested Grebes, were displaying to each other, but didn't dance, although we watched them for quite a while.
A Pochard put in an appearance.
More Grebe action.
Down at Seafield the Redshank, Turnstones and Purple Sandpipers were perched on the rocks at high tide.
To Portmoak Moss, this was a tip from a socially distanced chat with a local birder, who advised it was a good spot for Green Woodpecker and possibly Crossbills. So we paid a visit and of course saw neither!
We did get a couple of Treecreeper though
and our first Great Spotted Woodpeckers of the year.
So looking forward hopefully to be able to go a little further afield in the coming months, but really happy with what we have on our doorstep though. Lots to explore and see and share with our visitors when that is allowed.
