More Waxwings in Cowdenbeath!

Went back when it wasn't raining a couple of days later. Still a bit dull though, could do with some sunshine!!

I'll start with a Starling though

Now the Waxwings:

and a Blackbird getting among the Waxwings

but last word goes to a Waxwing!

Waxwings!!

Haven't posted anything for a while..... to be honest haven't felt like it!

But here you go with some very poor Waxwing photo's from Cowdenbeath in the pouring rain. Our daughter ensures us that she arranged it for our wedding anniversary! 😅

That was January!

So one month down already. I've just a few things to wrap up for the month.

We went for another look at the Waxwings at Sighthill in Edinburgh before they move on (in fact they are still there as of yesterday) The day was very dull and they weren't about. Of course someone else had seen them earlier, but thanks to Facebook we learnt that they had relocated a few hundred yards down the road, where there were still some berries, so off we went. As I said it was dull day so not the the best photos:

This Mistle Thrush tried to drive them off from the berries and succeeded at first but gave up after a while.

Elsewhere:

Lochore Meadows ("The Meadies")

Another dull day and quite quiet, Goldeneye and Teal being the highlights;

A walk at Seafield (Kirkcaldy),

Pied Wagtail,

Long-tailed Tit
A Ukranian Patrol Boat, presumably training in the Firth of Forth,
The Tower in the sun,
Gulls and Oystercatcher,
our first Red-breasted Merganser of the year,
Redshank having a stroll,
and Redshank having a get together!
Finally a very very quiet walk at Burleigh Sands with just a Goldcrest jigging about in the pines.

Waxwings at Sighthill in Edinburgh

We took the opportunity last week to catch up with some Waxwings again, this time in Sighthill. They had been around for a couple of weeks but we hadn't had the time to drive over and see them. The location was easy to find, but of course no Waxwings when we arrived. Another birder told us they had been there about 10 minutes previously. We decided to be patient and hang around, of course we had Coffee with us so it wasn't a great hardship, although it was very cold and icy, meantime some Bullfinches and Fieldfare showed well:

In addition, much to our surprise, a solitary Reed Bunting popped up over the road. Bizarre!

Anyway our patience was finally rewarded with some brief views before they shot off again.
