Day 3 saw us travel over to Sigri calling in at various places on the way, our first stop was unplanned, I wanted to pull over to let some traffic past and these two turned up:
So a good start to the day. Further on we stopped to look for Crag Martin, Rock Sparrow, Red-rumped Swallow and Blue Rock Thrush, but they were avoiding us today, we saw Crag Martin, and a Black 'Rock' Stork, but the rest weren't showing.
Black Stork
Short-toed EagleButterflies!
From there we moved on to Ipsilou,
Where we saw Cirl Bunting,
Black-eared Wheatear,
Rock Nuthatch, Lesser Kestrel, Isabelline Wheatear, Northern Wheatear and Red-backed Shrike. Though sadly I didn't manage photos of the last few.
After leaving Ipsilou we drove the road to the petrified forest entrance, hoping to see Chukar, and we did along with a this Red-backed Shrike
along here we also came across Stonechat and more Wheatear as well plenty of Crested Lark.
We were now getting hungry so we scooted on down to Sigri and lunch and much fish was eaten!!
After lunch we explored Faneromeni just outside Sigri, where we had some good sightings, particularly of Black-headed Buntings and Yellow Wagtail,
Little Ringed Plover,
Reed Warbler,
Crested Lark,
Spotted Flycatcher,
and Red-backed Shrike
So as time was getting on we made our way back to Skala Kallonis, stopping on the way to a place for Sombre Tit, which were seen and was a new species for all of us, but sadly no photo to go with it.
These posts are longer than I intended, so I will call a halt, part 3 to follow
